October 13, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
MJH Stump & Tree Service has announced the expansion of its tree care and property maintenance services to include seasoned firewood for residents of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Led by Michael J. Harkins, the company is incorporating firewood processing and distribution into its existing operations, with an emphasis on making use of materials generated through routine tree maintenance activities.
The expansion comes as residents prepare for colder weather and increased demand for residential heating resources. By introducing firewood services, MJH Stump & Tree Service aims to address local heating needs while exploring opportunities to reduce waste associated with tree removal and maintenance.
MJH Stump & Tree Service provides tree maintenance, stump removal, and other property care services throughout the Fond Du Lac area. The company’s decision to introduce firewood offerings represents an extension of its existing operations rather than a departure from its primary focus.
According to Michael J. Harkins, the initiative was developed around the idea of making practical use of wood collected during regular tree service projects. Materials that might otherwise be discarded can potentially be processed into firewood, creating an additional use for resources generated through tree removal and maintenance.
This approach reflects broader efforts within the tree care industry to manage organic materials responsibly. Wood recovered from appropriate tree maintenance activities can serve several purposes, including firewood production, landscaping applications, and other forms of reuse.
By incorporating firewood processing into its services, the company is seeking to reduce unnecessary material waste while expanding the resources available to local customers.
Wisconsin experiences prolonged periods of cold weather during the winter, making dependable heating an important consideration for homeowners. While heating systems vary among households, some residents use fireplaces and wood-burning stoves as primary or supplemental sources of warmth.
The availability of seasoned firewood in Fond Du Lac, WI is particularly relevant during autumn and winter, when households may begin preparing their heating equipment and organizing fuel supplies.
Seasoned firewood generally refers to wood that has been allowed to dry sufficiently before burning. This drying process reduces moisture content, which can improve combustion efficiency compared with freshly cut wood.
Properly seasoned wood typically produces more usable heat and less smoke than unseasoned wood under comparable burning conditions. However, actual performance depends on factors such as wood species, moisture levels, appliance design, and operating practices.
Michael J. Harkins has emphasized the company’s attention to processing its firewood to support efficient burning and heat production. The addition of this service provides another local option for residents who depend on wood-burning equipment during colder months.
An important component of the company’s expansion is its focus on utilizing materials produced through existing tree care operations.
Tree removal and maintenance can generate significant quantities of wood, branches, and other organic debris. Depending on their condition and characteristics, these materials may be suitable for reuse instead of disposal.
Processing usable wood into firewood can help extend the practical value of materials collected during tree service projects. This form of resource recovery is consistent with waste-reduction principles that encourage the productive use of suitable materials.
However, responsible firewood production also requires attention to wood quality, appropriate handling, and local environmental considerations. Not all wood collected during tree maintenance is suitable for burning, particularly when it has been treated, contaminated, or affected by certain conditions.
The company’s stated objective is to incorporate sustainability into its operational practices while maintaining its established tree care services.
Alongside the introduction of firewood services, MJH Stump & Tree Service has outlined plans to publish educational blog content addressing firewood storage, handling, and use.
These resources are intended to help homeowners understand practices that may improve burning efficiency and reduce potential safety concerns associated with wood-burning equipment.
Proper firewood storage is especially important in climates where rain, snow, and fluctuating temperatures can affect exposed materials. Keeping firewood elevated from the ground, allowing adequate airflow, and protecting it from excessive moisture can help preserve its condition.
Homeowners should also follow the manufacturer’s instructions for fireplaces and wood-burning stoves, maintain appropriate ventilation, and arrange regular chimney inspections and cleaning when applicable.
Another consideration involves the movement of firewood between locations. Transporting untreated firewood over long distances can contribute to the spread of invasive insects and tree diseases. Using locally sourced firewood, when possible, can help reduce these risks.
The company’s planned educational materials are expected to draw on its experience in tree maintenance and wood handling, providing information relevant to residents who use firewood for household heating.
The introduction of firewood services marks another development in MJH Stump & Tree Service’s range of property maintenance offerings.
The company has historically focused on tree care, stump removal, and related outdoor services. Adding firewood production creates a connection between these activities and the seasonal needs of homeowners.
Michael J. Harkins has described the expansion as part of the company’s efforts to respond to community requirements while making more effective use of available resources.
The initiative also highlights how tree service providers can explore complementary activities that make use of materials already handled during their regular operations.
For residents seeking firewood in Fond Du Lac, WI, the expansion introduces an additional source of seasoned wood while drawing attention to the relationship between tree maintenance, resource management, and residential heating.
MJH Stump & Tree Service will continue providing its established tree care services alongside the newly introduced firewood offerings.
The company plans to share additional information through its website, including guidance on firewood storage and use. Residents interested in availability, service details, or tree maintenance information can contact the business directly.
As colder weather approaches, the expansion reflects an effort to connect an existing local resource with seasonal household needs while encouraging more practical use of wood generated through tree care activities.
