In his latest work, A Space Family Odyssey: Lost in Space, author Charles C. Vaden delivers a thrilling, futuristic adventure inspired by the 1960s TV show Lost in Space. Set 100 years in the future, the novel follows the Graving family as they embark on a daring mission to travel to Alpha Centauri, our closest stellar neighbor, at greater-than-light speeds.
Chosen from thousands of applicants, the Graving family undergoes months of rigorous training before boarding the Valkyrie, a state-of-the-art spacecraft capable of traveling over 100 times the speed of light. But their mission takes an unexpected turn as multiple crises arise when they exit our solar system and engage the hyperdrive. Spinning out of control and landing on the wrong planet, the Gravings must use their wits and resourcefulness to survive. As they explore a new world, they encounter surprising challenges, time travel, and clues to humanity’s possible origins, bringing them face-to-face with what Earth might have looked like 100 million years ago.
A Space Family Odyssey is not only a tale of survival but also a journey of discovery, resilience, and the bond of family. Vaden combines his extensive knowledge of space dynamics and aerospace engineering with a gripping narrative that leaves readers wondering just how close humanity might be to traveling beyond our solar system.
In exciting news, Vaden’s second sequel to A Space Family Odyssey will be out soon, continuing the Graving family’s cosmic journey and unveiling even more thrilling twists and adventures in the vast reaches of space.
Charles C. Vaden’s career began with a mechanical engineering degree from Clemson University, followed by 11 years of service as a Harrier pilot in the Marine Corps. His diverse career spans engineering, quality control, and flight simulation with Link Flight Simulation, as well as piloting for FEDEX. Vaden also served as a pilot in the Air Force and Air National Guard, completing a combat tour in Iraq, and later working with NASA.
